Exciting Changes Coming Soon to PageSpeed Insights with Google Lighthouse 11.2.0 Updates!

Google recently unveiled an updated version of Lighthouse, featuring significant changes in how performance scores are calculated and displayed. These updates will soon be integrated into PageSpeed Insights and will be part of an upcoming Chrome release in DevTools.

The key modification involves a revamp of the performance category. Performance insights are now scored and prioritized based on their estimated impact on performance metrics. The performance score gauge provides more detailed information about how each metric affects the overall score.

In addition to these functional improvements, there are subtle design changes as well. The alignment of PageSpeed Insights gauges has been fixed to ensure they display correctly. Moreover, there's a revamped interface for the performance category playfully called the "explodey gauge" by developers, enhancing the user experience.

Although some changes might go unnoticed by the average user, they contribute to an improved overall design. Lighthouse 11.2.0 is set to appear in Chrome Dev Tools with the release of Chrome 120 on December 5, 2023. PageSpeed Insights users can expect these changes even earlier, potentially by the end of October.
